SERVICES
I want to go over how I operate including my philosophy of partnering and the services I offer.
Longarm Quilting Services is a full service family-of-1 owned and operated quilting business located in Ashe County in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. You make up the rest of the family. I work from my small log cabin home and am here most of the time.
My primary business is longarming, i.e. quilting your finished quilt top with an all over pantograph design. I use an APQS Ultimate I longarm on a 10 foot table computerized by an IntelliQuilter state of the art system.
First come first served is my operating principal based on when quilts arrive at the cabin. I am big on communication and openness when it is helpful. With permission, I blog about each quilt I do showing progress photos as I go. The first blog entry shows exactly what is in-house & what is in progress. Some like to see what others are doing and it is a great way to share the beautiful quilts that come through here. WARNING: If you want to just ship your quilt, leave the decisions to a longarmer & be done with it all, please send it somewhere else. I don't work that way. There are things I will not do for anyone. Actually I consider myself merely the executioner of your choices for your quilt. You piecers are not my customers, rather we are partners. We must communicate and work closely together. You must select your pattern, your thread, your batting & your density. I love working one on one making the quilt of someone's dreams. Don't think telling me you trust my judgment will sway me because I don't trust it for your quilt. I made lots of quilts so I could master longarming on my quilts and not on yours. You are welcome! I make quilts just because I see something I like. Quilts you & I have made are all here for your browsing fun. The BLOG is loaded with details, progress notes & planned projects dating back to August 2010 when I went public. What is Density?Density is the amount of thread quilted into a specific area. On the more practical side, I look at the spacing within the panto. As a general guideline I go by, The larger the density factor, the more thread used. Patterns that backtrack will have a higher density than ones that don't even though they look to have the same thread spacing.

I want MY Services to be AFFORDABLE
That is why I have kept my price at a penny five ($0.015) per square inch for most quilts -- the best price around, especially considering the extra time and care I put into each project.
Let's talk money. I could charge more. Many charge as much as 25% or more over what I charge. I am worth every bit of that!! I could use the money. Who couldn't? Yes, the equipment I use was expensive and I am still recouping those costs. Yes, the cost of cotton is going sky high! So why don't I charge more? And why don't I drum up more business? There is plenty to be had I assure you. The answer is YOU. My overhead is minimal so I can pass that savings on to you! As you can see from the Quilts page and BLOG, I have been quite busy! I have not been too busy though which means I can give special care to every project and special attention to every one who entrusts me with their work. As partners we make a good team & enjoy the process and results. And many have come back over and over. That is the best compliment I can receive. I am certain any one of these quilters will be happy to serve as a reference if you have any questions. On the practical side, the more you can afford, the more quilt tops you will make, the more work I will have & the more fun for everyone, especially the recipients of the quilts. A large part of the cost is out-of-pocket reimbursements for shipping, batting, pattern & thread. I have made every effort to minimize these. Those of you who appreciate what I do & can afford it are welcome to add a small gratuity. I prefer that to raising prices...for now. Payment Options are on the CONTACT page

Where Smiles Are Born
I believe in laughter!
If we're not smilin' then something needs fixin'. Simple as that.
I believe in doing a job right! My job isn't done until we are both smiling!
